Vascular lasers enable the following to be treated:
On the face:
On the lower limbs:
As well as:
The erasure of these vessels is sometimes achieved in a single session, but in most cases two or three sessions are required.
The treatment is not painless, but does not give rise to social exclusion.
It enables the need for any painful injection.
The light pulse coagulates the blood in the vein, thereby destroying the varicose vein without any cutaneous lesion or complication.
Slight reddening and local swelling of the skin may occur and last a few days.
Lasers have been used in dermatology for some thirty years and vascular lasers were among the first to be used.
This is an energy source transmitting light of a specific wavelength, absorbed by the haemoglobin in the red blood corpuscles. When converted to heat it causes sclerosis of the vessel wall in the following weeks.
The Yag 1064 mm laser is the most efficient.
Firstly couperose skin, a very common disorder which is manifested in the form of dilation of the dermal vessels in the centre of the face. In particular, the red vessels in the nostril
Ruby red spots throughout the body.
Red thread veins (diameter of less than 0.5 mm) and blue thread veins (between 0.5 and 2 mm) on the legs. These are often impossible to treat with sclerosing injections. This treatment is in any case an alternative that avoids the needle.
The number of sessions depends on the number of varicose veins to be treated, their colour and their size, generally 2 to 3 for moderate couperose skin, with an interval between the sessions of at least 6 weeks. Resumption of normal activities is possible immediately after the treatment session.
For the legs it is desirable to avoid tiring movements for 24 hours. The sun must be avoided in all cases.
There is a considerable improvement in the varicose veins treated within the next 2 to 6 weeks. Sometimes it takes several months to achieve the final result. In the course of time new varicose veins may become visible and will be treated in the same way.
In the majority of cases little or no side effects are observed, apart from slight reddening and local swelling of the skin for a few days, sometimes with the formation of blisters.
Parts of wider vessels may turn black and remain painful for quite a long time. If crusts form, a moisturising healing cream may be recommended by your practitioner.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may occur on dark skin and will disappear in time.
